SPIRAT PARTIES

Every area-I guess- has their resident motorcycle experts. Well, on the Space Coast, one of the best
is...SMITTY. Bike builder, tuner, engine builder, Pan Head ace, parts collector...etc. This guy rebuilt the Easyrider’s movie bikes...yep...he’s THAT good!! OK, every year for a long time, Smitty always threw a big wing-ding at Wickham Park, which gradually moved to his place in Grant. My first such party was in 1992, soon after we moved to Florida. The pics may include deceased bros or sisters...RIP all of them, and please bear with me...OK?  Maybe these pics will bring back some memories for YOU too!!!

ROSCOE’s….# 29

It’s no big secret about some logistical changes that had to be made at the big Chili Challenge this year.  Camping areas were changed, entrances and exits were switched, the event was cut by one day…! As word got out BEFORE the event, I believe it scared a few people away! Well, I’m here to tell you all, the Chili Challenge was a huge success, despite a few minor changes. Additional camping ground was purchased, which was more than enough to accommodate everyone, and despite shortening the party by one day...you STILL got your money’s worth. My friend, Jay Mollica rode out with me...I of course, took my truck...thanks to Jay for the company. Jay, by the way, is a PRIMO sax player, as I’m sure most of you know!! We were invited out on Thursday, a day before opening...got a good camp site, met a lot of new people, shot almost 1000 photos, squeezed a few chicks, ate good at Heavenly Hotdogs…(Thanks John & Andrea!!), and generally had a blast. Weather was good till Saturday evening, when the cold front moved in, and we got spritzed a bit!! Good chili, good events, good people, I think the photos can tell the story a lot better than I can. Our BIG THANKS to Roscoe and his terrific staff for a job well done...hope to get there again in 2015!!!

A FEW GRIPES...BUT...MOSTLY FUN

I’m finally caught up enough so I can post a chapter in my BLOG!! First, the gripe...It concerns
Spooks & Scoots, and other long time favorites which charge admission to get in. It seems to me that some unscrupulous promoters in various towns near these long-running events, are organizing events which encompass the entire town...hence...no admission fees. Yeah, I know all about free enterprise and all that, but, why go against a long-running event with an established date ?? Why not play fair...it’s kind of an unwritten rule...ya know? Don’t demonstrate your greed ...play fair…!! What goes around...COMES around...ya know…?
Now for the fun part. A week-end at Spooks & Scoots was a welcome respite for me...perfect weather, beautiful girls...willing to pose for me... couldn't have been better!! Then, a few days later, Willie’s Tropical Tattoo Chopper Show in Daytona. Again, perfect weather, more gorgeous babes…(are you catching my drift here?) After that, a Bikes & Babes Sunday at H&D Roadhouse on Merritt Is. Did I finally get my fill of beautiful women…??? NO!!! Stay tuned for more…

CHECKIN’ OUT SOME OLD IRON

…..and, some young chicks…!

Had it not been for my daughter, ValGal, reminding me of this event...I probably might have forgotten about it!  But, she called, picked me up, and we made it!! Well over 100 cars and bikes were spread out over the grounds at American Legion #1, US 1, in Titusville, Fl. Really, not what I had expected, however, the Derelicts Car Club had their act together!! Rat rods, classics, customs from the early days, right up to today, some fiberglass retro’s, and, some...right out of the scope of your imagination!!  I also liked the way some of the girls wore “era” costumes, to fit in with the older cars...neat!! The heat was over-powering...some relief from the fans inside the huge pavilion, where the bar and food counter were doing a pretty brisk business!! The outside stage was host to two fine, live, bands, and ultimately the trophy presentations.   Oh yeah, Bully Rescue was doing their thing with a pit bull Kissing Booth, and yes...they got some business...not from ME, however!!! Bad weather was all around us, but all we got was a brief sprinkle, adding to the complete success of the event. Keep this in mind for next year...I will!!!
