LEESBURG BIKEFEST….2014

I guess, it’s just plain luck, that every year I’ve gone to Leesburg, the
weather has been fantastic, and this year was no exception, although, it was a mite warm!! ValGal and I went up for the day on Sat. April 26; couldn’t get my usual all-access arm band this year, because I don’t carry the insurance needed…(something new this year). We still had a whole town full of biker activity, and managed to collect quite a few decent images. Sad to say, (my private observation)...the event seems to be changing, as all big events do...more rules, (the insurance), some high prices on certain items, but, through it all, the Leesburg Partnership came through with a nice Media Center...air
conditioned, water, soda, snacks, places to sit and cool off...very nice...thank you!! The day-time crowd it seemed...was down a bit, over last year...not just me, I asked several people, and they agreed, but said at night, it livened up a bit...good!! Nice to see Radical Randy again, as well as Don Rogers from EASYRIDERS magazine...good friends…! All in all, it was a fun day...tiring...but fun!! Hope I can do it next year again...ride safe…

H&D ROADHOUSE

Three years ago, Harry and wife Deb acquired a bar business on Merritt Island, with the aim of turning it into a full-fledged biker bar. Well folks...I’m here to tell you, that they succeeded!! The 3 year celebration party on April 6, 2014, turned out to be a total success! Big crowd coming and going all day and night! Constant LIVE entertainment, by some of the county’s best bands, and, food...man the food was fabulous, and, plenty of it. Lots of (the usual) pretty girls strutting around, the clicking of pool balls,
the occasional roar of a big twin motorcycle, a dance-floor filled with jubilant party animals...I tell you, it was a blast!! The weather was virtually perfect as well! Harry calls the Roadhouse, Brevard County’s ONLY REAL biker bar, and by golly, I’m inclined to agree with him! One of the highlights of the day, was when Harry spoke to the whole crowd, thanking them all, patrons,
and staff alike, for helping to make this place...THE place to go for out and out...FUN!! It’s on SR 520, Merritt Island, right across from the Lincoln dealer...can’t miss it! Join me there soon...OK?

` B.I.N. RUN...2014

As luck would have it...the weather for the 2014 BIN Run and party was not as we would have hoped for. It started out a little rainy and overcast, and, later, turned into a full fledged "down burst"!!
The riders were already under the giant pavilion at Wickham park, however, when that nasty piece of weather hit, the rain was horizontal, so, it blew right into the pavilion!!
Big Daddy,
the band playing at the time, was literally blown off the stage!! BUT, we all survived!! Lots of food, drink, and dedicated people, who stuck it out to help any needy bikers who found themselves in need of some kind of assistance...that’s what BIN is all about. Need help...? Contact Ellen Gochenauer on Facebook...she’ll do the rest!!

NANCIE'S CREW JAM

Here’s a gig that’s been around for years now, and I believe the 22nd party was far and away...the best yet. Terrific bands, good food. A real nice (and friendly) crowd, and the weather was just about perfect!! This party kinda coincided with Nanci’s birthday, so, it was a double treat for her. NO, I ain’t gonna tell you how old she is..All I know is that she and Chuck worked damn hard to put this all together, and it showed. A bunch of the Brothers were there too, to help celebrate. And babes...whew!! Lots of them floatin’ around all day long too. They too, were very friendly! But, the name of the game here was brother-and-sisterhood. It’s what it’s all about. Looking forward to the next Crew Jam...thanks Nanci...it was a BLAST!!!

HARLEY RENDEZVOUS

Way back, in 1984, a good friend of mine talked me into a ride to up-state New York, to an event called The Harley Rendezvous. I had heard of it, but had never made any plans to attend. Wife, Sandy, hopped on the back of my Hog, and with 4 other friends, we were off! BHeautiful weather for the ride, and after about 5 hours and several beer stops, we made

it to Duanesburg, N.Y., and wound our way through some hill country, and finally...Indian Look-out Country Club...new home of the infamous "Vous!" We camped for 3 days...good weather...not-so-good food, terrible sanitary facilities, lots of trudging around, BUT, good photo opps. That’s when we broke into Paisano Publications with some good Vous photos!! We left the place in sunshine, but about 35 miles south, we hit rain...big time, for about the next 200 miles! My dear wife...(GOD Rest Her Soul)...was not a happy camper!! But, we made it home high and dry...(good rain gear!) I have since made that trip 19 more times...several from my present home...Florida!! If you get the chance...make that event...you’ll thank me!!!

Steel City Hillclimb

Living in Florida, we don’t have motorcycle hillclimbs!!! BUT, back in Pennsylvania, namely , Freemansburg, we had a fabulous 4-Star pro hillclimb, in what was called Steel City. They ran twice a year...June, and Sept., and was sponsored by Bushkill Valley MC. This was action to beat all!!! Nitro powered
machines roared up that hill in mere seconds...thrills and spills galore! And babes.....well let me tell you...they were the cutest ever!!! Then, after the event ended, there were the "after parties!!" WOW!! It was a day of fantastic fun. I’m wondering if you trans-planted Lehigh Valley folks remember the HILLCLIMBS like I do!!
